Day 2 brought the drama home, literally. The Junior final came down to the final ten seconds, with Ilan Chouard, riding on home soil, pulling out a backflip worth 8.75 on his last possible wave to snatch the win from Italy's Damiano Bonazzi by a quarter of a point.
Earlier in the day, France's Athanäé Blanchard dropped a 9.50, the single highest score of the event so far, but couldn't back it up enough to reach the final.
