It’s a pleasure to greet the entire community that enjoys this beautiful sport. I’m 52 years old; I stopped riding waves many years ago due to work and raising my children. I’ve been living in Brooklyn, NY, for four years now. I’m Peruvian, and after nearly seven years away from the sport, I got back to riding waves this summer. I bought my first brand-new bodyboard two months ago. The last time I bought a new one was a Toobs board when I was 22; later, at 36, I bought a second-hand VS.
Deciding to buy a bodyboard again was a tough call. I enjoy both DK (drop-knee) and prone riding, so I needed a hybrid board, but I hadn't kept up with new materials or features for years. I immersed myself in videos, reviews, and AI research to figure out what to pick; it was overwhelming because I only wanted to buy one board but liked about four of them. Still, since I was starting over, I chose a Science board. I contacted them and placed my first order—board, bag, and leash. It took a while to arrive, so I reached out to them, and Mike Stewart himself replied to my email. I simply couldn't believe it—it was one of the most exciting things that’s ever happened to me. For fins, I went with the Hubboards DK model. I’ve been riding again for two months now and am truly happy; I thank God for giving me the chance to return to the ocean. Now, I look forward to the time I can go back to Peru, where I plan to buy a Hubboard to use there and teach my 12-year-old daughter about the beauty of this sport.
